Bills to crackdown on drunk driving face rejection

Bills that are aiming to toughen DWI laws are facing rejection in the Texas legislature.

One bill that is would have made it a law to suspend a driver’s license or permit after a person has been convicted of their fifth DWI offense. This bill did not pass, but representative that support it state that they will try again in the 2013 session.

During this session, the legislature reviewed DWI related bills. One of the toughest was a law that would have revoked a driver’s license after the second drunk driving offense.
