20 in drug ring arrested and jailed

According to U.S. Drug Enforcement officials, 20 people were recently arrested and jailed for drug-related crimes.  The group, who called themselves the “Catfish Mafia”, moved drugs from manufacturers in Mexico to their operation center in Comal County, and then to locations across the country as far as Los Angeles and Atlanta.

The drug traffickers’ business generated around $4.5 to $5 million a month.  The group reportedly traffics around 25 pounds of pure crystal methamphetamine every month.

Federal investigations into the drug traffickers began in early 2010 and the case broke in June.  Comal County Criminal District ADA Jennifer Tharp stated, “We’re taking a hard stance on drug trafficking in this community.  If it’s beyond our ability, we’ll call in federal law enforcement agencies.”
