Crimes rates in Dallas decrease by 4 percent

According to Dallas police, the crime rate in Dallas has decreased by nearly 4 percent compared to this time last year.

The Dallas police chief has said that violent crimes have decreased by nearly 10 percent. The only type of crime that still continues to be a problem is property crime because the rate of home burglaries is consistent with the numbers last year.

In May, Dallas police saw an increase in break-ins, both at businesses and residences, and they launched a new program called Operation Heatwave in order to combat the issue. This program allows for police officers to go door-to-door  in neighbor hoods with high crime rates.
