Three online dating sites to screen for sex offenders

Three major online dating sites will now be scanning databases in order to make sure that convicted sex offenders are not on the site. This new law comes into affect after a woman was assaulted on a date in California.

The three online dating sites, Match.com, eHarmony and Spark Networks, have all signed petitions that they will be stepping up for the online dating industry in order to protect users from sexual predators.

On Monday, the three companies stated that they will supply users with safety tips, compare subscribers to the national sexual predators registry and create a way for users to easily report abuse. This petition does not come with any penalties for the dating sites, but does hold them somewhat accountable for their users’ safety.
