DUI charges against Walmart heiress dropped

Multi-billionaire Alice Walton of the Walmart empire escaped a DUI charge without any formal charges being filed against her on Monday, September 9. The suspension of the arresting Department of Public Safety highway patrol officer and his inability to testify triggered the decision to drop the charges, according to a statement made by Parker County Prosecutor John Forest to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Records show that Walton was driving in a construction zone on Interstate 20 above the 55-mph speed limit when the Texas Highway Patrol pulled her over for a traffic violation at about 10 p.m. Senior trooper Gary Rozzell told the Weatherford Democrat in 2011 that Walton was found to be intoxicated and refused to take a breathalyzer test.

She was taken into custody at the Parker County Jail, where she was released on a $1,000 bail.

Being arrested and charged with driving under the influence can result in jail time and a hefty fine. For immediate legal help, speak with the Dallas attorneys from the Law Offices of Mark T. Lassiter by calling 214-845-7007 today.
