Innocence Project of Texas files appeal for robbery suspect

In late November, Innocent Project of Texas executive director Mike Ware filed an appeal that George Powell III, who was convicted of robbing a 7-Eleven store in Killeen, Texas was convicted wrongfully at the fault of erroneous testimony, given by former Florida police officer Michael Knox.

Lately, the Austin Police Department’s forensics laboratory has come under fire after inspectors said their evidence have been tampered with and contaminated. Reports show that forensic video analysis may follow this reputation.

According to Grant Fredericks, who taught video analysis at the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy in Quantico in Prince William County, Virginia, Knox used only one video image when he should have used several to identify the robbery perpetrator.
