14-year-old faces murder charges in two-month-old baby’s drowning

A 14-year-old Dallas, Texas girl is facing capital murder charges for allegedly drowning a two-month-old baby girl last Monday, January 26.

The baby was put in the care of a family friend by child services as the mother was currently incarcerated for traffic tickets. Police did not publicly divulge details of the case such as the names of the teenager involved. They have not released a possible motive for the drowning, either.

It has yet to be determined whether the young teen will be tried as an adult or not, however she cannot be sentenced to death due to her juvenile status.

Dallas killers arrested in Bridgeport

Two young suspects, 19 and 17 yeas-old, connected with the murder of a Dallas store owner were found hiding in a relative’s home in Bridgeport last week.

Cameras at the store show the two men approaching the victim and her husband as they locked the fence to their store. One grabs a box in her hands, which contained her left over lunch and some onions, and shoots at her. She later died at hospital.

Both suspects will be tried as adults and could face the death penalty if convicted. They are each held on $1 million bond in Bridgeport.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.

Man convicted of murder in Ft. Worth 25 years later

A 66-year old Dallas real estate agent was recently convicted of murder nearly 25-years after the crime occurred.  After a month in court, the jury deliberated for two hours and determined that the man was guilty of capital murder for shooting a mother in her Fort Worth home on September 22, 1986.

Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty in the case and he was instead sentenced to life in prison.  The real estate agent did not become a suspect until 2009 when DNA evidence found on duct tape at the scene of the crime led police to him.

The real estate agent maintains that the police have the wrong man and that there was a clerical error made with the DNA.  In an hour-long closing argument, the defense tried to convince jurors that the victim’s husband should be the suspect in question.  The defense maintained that there was more evidence against the husband than the real estate agent.
