Two soldiers accused of killing teenager

Two soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg made their first court appearance after being accused of killing a teenager in Spring Lake.

The two 20-year-old men were charged with first-degree murder, the day after the body of a 17-year-old was found in the woods. The two men, who are both in the 82nd Airborne Division, were neighbors of the teenager.

A possible motive for why the two men would have killed the teen has not be determined and police have said that more will be known after an autopsy is done.

Two fatal shootings occur in Arlington

Two fatal shootings occurred in Arlington in the past two weeks. These tragic events have brought the homicide total to 14 in 2011, just two short of the total for the year 2010.

The first shooting victim was a 20-year-old man that was shot and died in the hospital a few days later. The man’s 19-year-old girlfriend has been arrested and is expected to face murder charges.

Both this shooting and the other appear to¬† be domestic violence acts. A 57-year-old woman was also shot in the abdomen when she stepped out of her apartment to talk to her daughter’s ex-boyfriend. The woman was pronounced dead a few hours later. The daughter’s ex-boyfriend fled after the woman was shot, but he was later arrested as a suspect.
